Pilates Living
About
Rebecca was introduced to Pilates after experiencing pelvic instability with her third pregnancy. A busy mother and passionate yoga teacher at the time, she did not implement the prescribed exercises postnatally, something she would later regret. Following hip surgery a few years on, Rebecca was told Pilates would form her rehabilitation program. It was only then she learnt to appreciate the science and intellect behind the exercises and greatly benefitted from these in her post-operative recovery.

Pilates Living
The Studio
Pilates Living is a privately owned boutique studio located in the secluded area of old Mt Martha. It is an open, light-filled space, located on the 2nd floor with views out across the treetops. The room has been purpose built and is fully equipped with the highest quality equipment, sourced from a local supplier.
Each session is created around the clients individual needs. Rebecca performs an initial assessment and sets each person their own specific program. This can be refined and developed as the client progresses. Sessions can be done as part of a small group (2 or 3), or as a private one on one session for a more customised class. Rebecca is also able to work alongside other healthcare practitioners, to create a programme based on injury rehabilitation or for a specific condition/disorder.
Initial Assessment
An in-depth postural and movement assessment allowing the teacher to learn about the client’s body and needs. The information is then used to create an individual program (must be done prior to commencement of any studio session).
Intro Package
Includes an initial assessment + 3 private studio classes.
These sessions familiarise the client with basic Pilates principles and exercises on both the apparatus and the mat. A great option for those new to Pilates!

Educate and Evolve
At Pilates Living there is an emphasis on educating clients, beyond just instruction. It is important for people to understand what they are doing and why. Sharing this knowledge enables clients to develop their own body awareness, which reinforces good habits outside the studio. This helps to empower people and increases the likelihood of better longterm health outcomes.
As we all know, health and happiness are inextricably linked.
In the words of Joseph Pilates … “physical fitness is the first requisite of happiness”.

Rebecca is fantastic. I started Pilates because I was broken, with back, shoulder and knee issues from years of neglect. I must admit that I thought going into a class environment (which in the past I have only lasted 2 weeks), everyone would be doing the same thing. But Rebecca has the ability to treat each person as an individual and takes a genuine interest in them. In her friendly, bubbly, positive way, she can focus on everyone in the class, know their weaknesses and tweak the exercise to suit them. She has never made me feel like I can’t do it. She targets to my level and pushes that level with encouragement. And since I have been to her classes I feel so much stronger and more aware of my body and the way it works. I am glad that I committed to pilates as it has become a game changer for me, and I really appreciate having Rebecca guiding me through that journey.

I’ve had private and group Pilates classes led by Rebecca. She is by far the best teacher I’ve had.
It never feels like an exercise class - feels more like getting together with friends for a chat and a laugh. I was new to Pilates when I met Rebecca. She has helped me to build core strength and tone and help my body recover from pregnancy and birth.

I have been receiving Pilates therapy from Rebecca for the last year and a half. Rebecca is very professional and approachable and I have greatly benefited from her sessions. Rebecca has worked on the areas I most needed help with as well as focusing on my overall well-being. I was diagnosed with Charcot Marie Tooth disease in 2001 due to degenerative nerves in my feet and legs. I developed drop foot in both feet resulting in the need to wear AFO’s and the use of a walking stick. The condition has majorly affected my mobility due to muscle wastage in my feet and legs, the loss of movement in my toes and ankle weakness (suffered a broken ankle in 2015). The condition is now affecting my upper body with loss of hand strength. I am very grateful for Rebeccas help, care and expertise.

Rebecca took me on as a client over a period of about 18 months while she was working in New Zealand. What I found so helpful with Rebecca was that she could identify with my injuries, pains and discomforts as she has suffered from many of them herself. That meant when I was trying to explain why a certain part of me hurt or couldn’t move the way it was supposed to, she was able to understand why. She could sympathise and know exactly what she needed to work on to help free up movement in that part of my body.
Rebecca has learned so much about the body and the way it works from her own injuries and as a result has an incredible amount of knowledge to share with her clients. She was very patient with me when explaining and showing me how to perform exercises, and she made sessions so enjoyable that it was something I looked forward to each week. I’m very sad that she has now moved back home to Australia but have full confidence that she’ll provide her clients with an excellent, supportive service as she helps resolve their aches and pains.
